Disc golf is a fun, fast-growing sport that’s played much like traditional golf and footgolf — but instead of clubs and balls (or footballs!), players throw a flying disc from a tee area toward a target, usually an elevated metal basket. The aim is simple: complete each hole in the fewest throws possible.
Each player throws from where their previous shot landed, and the player furthest from the basket always throws first. Trees, terrain, and natural features make every hole a different challenge. Disc golf is suitable for all ages and skill levels, and our themed courses at Basset Down offer a unique Wiltshire twist to every round.

Whether you’re trying it for the first time or looking for a new local course to sharpen your skills, this new sport is a fantastic way to enjoy fresh air, friendly competition and active fun. Both of our courses will offer two different tee sets to suit a wide range of players:
Situated on our original 9-hole ‘crazy’ footgolf course, this course celebrates some of Wiltshire’s most iconic landmarks — including Stonehenge, The Ridgeway, the White Horses and Silbury Hill. Each hole is themed around a specific landmark, featuring natural materials and creative obstacles to throw through, over, or around.
It’s a fun and accessible course, ideal for younger players who may find the full 18-hole layout a bit much, or for those who want to challenge their aim and accuracy rather than just distance. Whether you're new to disc golf or looking to sharpen your skills, this course offers a great mix of creativity and challenge for all ages.
We would recommend allowing 30-40 minutes to play this course.
